Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has challenged Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s readiness to contest the presidency in the 2027 General Election, questioning whether his political movement has enough time to establish the structures required to lead the country.

Translated into English, Mudavadi was asking where such a party would get its policies, structures and organisational framework if it were formed just six months before an election.
He went on to warn Kenyans against taking unnecessary risks with the country’s leadership, stating:
“So let us not second-guess and gamble with the leadership of this country.”
Mudavadi’s remarks come amid Sifuna’s push to build the Linda Mwananchi political movement into a national force capable of challenging President William Ruto in August 2027.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary has previously questioned whether Sifuna’s political vehicle has established the necessary grassroots networks to compete against established parties such as UDA, ODM and Jubilee.
In separate remarks reported by People Daily on October 11, Mudavadi challenged Sifuna’s supporters to explain the party’s organisational presence across different counties, questioning whether it had functioning offices and leadership structures outside Nairobi.
